52 new Ebola Cases, 19 Ebola Deaths Today in Sierra Leone

EBOLA UPDATE

52 new Ebola infections recorded today in Sierra Leone and  19 Ebola patients reported to have died today,December 17, 2014.

This brings the total number of Ebola deaths since June to 2,095 persons, according to official records.

Health Ministry officials  say that they have confirmed 2,547 Ebola patients in Freetown and its environs alone.

There are also 1,680 suspected or probable cases whose results are yet to be confirmed.

A house-to-house search to fish-out potential patients has commenced today in Freetown through an order of the president.

Government officials have announced additional draconian measures as part of their response to the Ebola epidemic.

The measures include a travel restrictions and ban on public celebrations of christmas and new year.

President Koroma has ordered a deployment of troops on the streets of major towns across the country to enforce the new draconian measures.
