Political Infighting: SL Ruling Party May Expel Vice President from its Ranks

A newspaper in Freetown has reported that the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the ruling party in Sierra Leone is planning to expel the country’s vice president from its ranks ahead of the next leadership conference.

Global Times says there is strong indication that the ruling All People Congress leadership council is contemplating action to expel the vice president of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana from the party.

Ruling party officials allege that Sam Sumana  hired thugs to humiliate some senior party members in Kono.

He is also said to have informef foreign media outlet about his dissgreement with President Koroma, who occupies the position of leader and chairman of the ruling party.

These allegations are currently been looked into by party leaders.

The Global Times revealed that the vice president has allegedly been prevented from travelling out of the country pending the outcome of the investigations.

The paper also said the Vice President’s application for medical leave is yet to be approved by State House.

Sources close to State House say that the matter of the vice president is part of the internal battle to succeed President Koroma.
