Reports from the diamond rich district of Kono in eastern Sierra Leone confirm that a new Ebola laboratory and treatment center has been opened today to respond to the rising cases of infections in the area.
District Medical Officer (DMO) for Kono district, Dr. Manso Dumbuya has confirmed that the newly built Ebola Treatment Centre and a Laboratory has been opened today, Thursday 8th January 2015, to handle a recent upsurge in cases there.
He told journalists that government and donor partners have provided 14 ambulances, 3 local doctors, 5 international doctors and other experts on the ground in Kono to help contain Ebola.
